Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of characters who will separate from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might look out of place, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team knows exactly where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could help the team enter areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in search of the traitor.
